NAHB: Builder Confidence Increased in June

The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) reported the housing market index (HMI) was at 55, up from 50 last month. Any number above 50 indicates that more builders view sales conditions as good than poor. From the NAHB: Builder Confidence Moves into Positive Territory in June Solid demand, a lack of existing inventory and improving supply chain efficiency helped shift builder confidence into positive territory for the first time in 11 months.

Housing June 19th Weekly Update: Inventory Increased 1.8% Week-over-week

Altos reports that active single-family inventory was up 1.8% week-over-week. Click on graph for larger image. This inventory graph is courtesy of Altos Research. As of June 16th, inventory was at 451 thousand (7-day average), compared to 443 thousand the prior week. Year-to-date, inventory is down 81.%. And inventory is up 11.2% from the seasonal bottom nine weeks ago.
